Farewell March

Friday:
- cancelled appt for no reason
- worked for no reason
- self medicated with candy and mexican food

Saturday:
- 8 inches of snow in my front yard
- haircut, wedding chapel meeting, invitation printing ALL cancelled

Sunday:
- 65 degrees, short sleeves, windows down
- much too much shopping with Mary

Monday:
- busy busy busy
- or, I should say: rushed rushed rushed
- two people continuously coming into my office "are you done yet?" "when do you think you'll be done?"
- WHEN YOU LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!
- and the correct word is "finished" :)

Apparently I prefer to blog in list format. I like making lists. I also like crossing things off of them. That doesn't seem to happen as quickly as it used to. Especially lately and especially with wedding stuff.

I think that I'm bi-polar when it comes to my job. Sometimes I love it, and sometimes I hate it. It doesn't make sense to me. It's especially difficult right now because I was hired because "management" wanted to start doing things differently. So I start working and I'm new and I'm doing things differently and no one likes it! Well, the managers like it but it goes through a couple of people before they see it. I'm trying to deal with it positively, but that's not my strong point. It would be helpful if people wouldn't talk about me when i can HEAR them! Ignorance is bliss if you ask me.

This weekend is my bachelorette party! Duh, like I haven't been talking about it for months. I am ready for a weekend away with girls only! Mary has been planning it, and I don't know what we're doing. We are going to Dallas and I'm sure we are just doing the normal stuff but I don't know specifics. It's actually fun not knowing and not having to worry about any of it. She is doing a great job as my maid of honor!

There are no words

Does anyone else feel like this has been the longest week ever? I didn't even work on Monday and I feel like it has!

Things that made my Thursday turn from fabulous to very bad:
- a certain co-worker poking his head into my office everytime he walks by to see what I'm doing
- a 30 minute meeting that lasted 1 hour 15 minutes
- people who just like to hear themselves talk
- someone who does not matter and is not in charge saying to me "why are you taking so many days off, you just started"
- people who cannot let go of things (i.e. their work)
- deciding that I needed to come into work on Friday instead of going to Lawton

Things that will make it all better:
- leaving early today and not talking to anyone because I'm "not" here
- dinner out tonight, with no concern of caloric intake whatsoever
- haircut tomorrow, doesn't that just make everything better?
- shopping tomorrow
- invitation printing
- bachelorette party next weekend!

Breathing A Sigh Of Relief

Happy Friday!!! Oh, wait it's not Friday, but it might as well be because I'm off work tomorrow! Woohoo!!

Yesterday was pretty intense for Lee and myself. Mostly for Lee. I won't go into the details, but his company had a round of pretty intense layoffs and he survived! Thank God he still has his job! His friend that he works with also kept his job so that was great too.

I am excited for the weekend, even though the weather looks like it's going to be terrible. Tomorrow we are going to lawton for our counseling, but when we get back we are going out to dinner for the first time in a really long time! On Saturday I am getting my hair done! I love getting my hair cut! And Mary and I are going shopping. I don't know what my deal is with shopping lately but I always want to go! I'm seriously not usually like that with clothes. I am more with stuff for the house than with clothes. And on Sunday we are finally going to print the wedding invitations!! Yay I'm excited to get to see them completely finished!

Today, I volunteered to be our departments United Way coordinator. It actually seems like a big job, but no one else was volunteering and I wouldn't mind doing it, I just have no idea what I'm going to be doing! But it will be fun I'm sure and it will give me a way to meet more people around here. We'll see. I don't for sure have the job, but I said that if no one else is dying to do it, I would be interested. Haha. Maybe I'll meet a good contact person in another department so I can finally get out of the accounting world at some point!

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Halfway through!

Ohhh what a week and it's only Wednesday! Work-wise, this is my Thursday because Lee and I have to go to Lawton for the pre-marital counseling thing on Friday. A day off is a day off even if we do have to drive 6 hours and discuss our relationship with a 60 year old man I don't know. :)

Let's see...I really do not have anything exciting to discuss. Isabelle barfed like every 2 hours on Sunday and we finally decided it was time for a trip to the vet. Turns out she has acid reflux! Ha! I know how she feels. We got her some pepcid and it seems to be working! Yay! I am so tired of cleaning up dog vomit!

Speaking of, I had to leave work early because of the aforementioned. No big deal, I was fine the next day. BUT, when I walked in to work on Tuesday, a certain co-worker who sometimes wears a mask was standing in the cube next to mine. He clearly did not see me come in because he started talking crap about how I had to leave early on Monday and how I have all of this stuff to do and on and on and I should be so stressed. Excuse me? I was beyond pissed. So when he came to my desk a little while later, I mentioned to him that I overheard him. I said that obviously I wouldn't have left but I was throwing up so there was really nothing I can do about it. He knew I was pissed. What an ass.

Mary and I went shopping last weekend and I found the cutest party dress ever to wear for my bachelorette party! I want to wear it everyday! haha. seriously. I can't believe it's next weekend! I am excited and really ready for a little getaway.

Welcome, Spring!!

It's the first day of Spring!! Here's a little known fact about me: I always always wanted to get married on the first day of Spring. Unfortunately, because of the job I was at when we started planning, it was an impossibility. Boo. If I'd known I'd be at a different job, I could have done it! Only it would have to have been the day after since today is Friday and all, but still. Oh well. Exactly 3 months from today! 13 weeks. :)

Earlier this week I got $30 in the mail! It was from the Neilson's rating people and I have to log what I watch on TV from yesterday to next Thursday. It's kind of fun because I like filling out forms and stuff. Lee took $10 of it. I though that was rude. I was addressed to ME! And I was the one who filled out the initial survey when he said it was dumb.

Speaking of TV, last night I watched MTV for a minute and it had previews of the new season of The Hills. We [should] all know that Lauren has decided not to do the show anymore. I just assumed that the show would end all together. Well, last night, it said that it was "Lauren's last season." That leads me to believe that the show will go on. With who?! Audrina? No thanks, I prefer to watch people with a personality. Speidi? I would rather perform a lobotomy on myself. The She-Prat? Absolutely not!

Gray's Anatomy was really good last night. I'm glad that they have started writing better because for a while, it was terrible. Lee and I were talking about how everyone we know is obsessed with LOST and how we never even started watching it. I'm not sure why I didn't start it ever, because it is the type of show that I would really like. I have thought about renting the DVDs but it would take forever to catch up!

I heard the other day that the Wii Fit has step aerobics-type stuff. That is my favorite! I don't really know how it would work since the little thing would have to be the step and it's low to the ground, so I'm not sure if it's true. I do want a Wii though, and I am totally not the video game type, but that thing is awesome! I was supposed to get up and go to a different spin class this morning. I didn't make it :) 5:20 is such an early time to wake up!!!

Happy Friday! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Helloooooo

This morning I spilled my french vanilla cappuccino all over my desk and myself. Boo. Luckily it wasn't that bad and I didn't have to go change or anything. Let's hope that this is not a sign of the rest of the day!

So this week I started taking the spin class at the gym. I really like spin class but the only time they offer it here is 6:15 am. That's right, A.M.! Come to find out, it's actually easier for me to wake up at 5:30 than 6, so yay! And everyone in the class is really nice and I like the instructor. Overall, very good decision. And I think I'm going to start working out in the mornings now everyday since it's so easy for me on spin days. We'll see how it goes.

Last weekend, we met with the pastor who's going to marry us as I discussed. Well, we had to take this online "survey" so that he knew what areas we should talk about at our next meeting. He stressed that it was not a compatibility test or anything. The very first question was is we are living together or not. We are. This is Lee's pastor from his family church that he has known forever! We weren't supposed to discuss the survey with each other but I called him and asked what I should say. We told the truth. Then the rest of the questions were weird. It asked a TON of things about living together. It also asked about the dreaded s.e.x. Awkward. I didn't like the survey and I got a warning for answering too many as "undecided" because I didn't want to answer some stuff! Whatever. We have to go back next Friday. I'm kind of over this pre-marital counseling. At first it was fine, but now it's just annoying.

Why isn't it Friday yet?! This week has dragged on forever.

The wedding is in 13 weeks! I remember when it was 13 months! It's getting so close. My bachelorette party is in 2 1/2 weeks and I'm excited! It'll be so nice to get away and see friends. I met with the florist again yesterday. He freaked out about how much time we will have at the chapel before the wedding. I have no idea why. All he's doing are the bouquets and boutonnieres. I'm doing the centerpieces myself so why does he care when we get there?! That was one thing I wasn't stressed about so why was he freaking? It was annoying. And the meeting was pointless because he repeated the order to me and I said "yep".

I guess I should get to work or something....I am so unmotivated to work!!

Vomit

That pretty much sums up my weekend. Well, my Sunday at the very least.

On Saturday, we went to Lawton, which means that we need my parents to watch the precious baby girls. But my dad was sick and throwing up. Boo. My mom said that they would still watch them. Yay.

The trip to Lawton was very successful and much needed. We met with the pastor and discussed stuff like why Lee and I love each other :) I am by no means mushy gooshy lovey or anything like that, so it was a little difficult for me to talk about stuff like that. But it was fun to hear what Lee said about me, and I'm sure he enjoyed hearing my thoughts, especially when I don't tell him stuff like that as often as I should.

Then we went to register at this store there. Even though we registered at Dillards specifically because there is one in Lawton, for some reason, EVERYONE was like, "why aren't you registered at Easton's?" Sooo, we went to register at "Easton's" aka, Ace Hardware! LOL. They did have more stuff than a normal Ace Hardware, but it was still funny to both of us. And instead of getting the fun scanner gun thingy, the lady followed us around with a piece of paper and wrote everything down! Oh man, it was an event.

We came home Saturday night and picked up the girls and headed home. Sunday morning I woke up to Zoe throwing up in the bed. At 6am. Lovely. Then Lee went to play golf and Zoe wanted me to hold her every second. She must have felt bad :( She wanted me to hold her when I read the paper, folded laundry, put away groceries, you name it. Then, when I was making dinner, Isabelle started throwing up. I saw it the first time, but then when I walked into the living room after cooking for a couple of minutes, she had thrown up on one couch, on the floor, on the rug, and was about to throw up on the other couch. Later I also found out that she had thrown up on the bed. Then a few hours later she repeated the process. We gave her some Pepto Bismol, which she hated but seemed to help. Until 1am when she threw up in the bed. Sheesh! I think she is feeling better today, she woke up wagging her tail and wanting breakfast. I was worried though. The only time she has thrown up that much was when she chewed on a mouse full of poison. Anywho, our house smelled like vomit pretty much all of Sunday night. It was gross. I think it's cleared up today. I can only imagine what it will be like when we have children and they get sick like that :( I am not looking forward to that.

Sorry. Enough about vomit. Despite all of that, we had a good weekend, and I hope that this week goes by fast!

Sooooooo over it

Okay, so the stuff below? I'm over it. It's amazing how much it helps to just let it out, even if it is just by typing. :)

Yay for it being Friday. I only worked 4 days this week, but it felt like I worked 10. And I would just like to say that sometimes I don't get my job. And by sometimes, I mean, most of the time. I would not even dream of explaining because it's a bore, but suffice it to say "I don't get it...."

Tomorrow we are driving to Lawton to accomplish 6 things:
1. Take an old blue couch to Lee's parents' house
2. Meet with the pastor who will officiate our ceremony
3. Register at some place I have never heard of before
4. Eat dinner with Lee's parents to celebrate his dad's bday
5. Claw my eyes out and my and ears off due to no. 4
6. Leave immediately after dinner

No. 5 is really only for me, but we both definitely agree on no. 6. Yes, I am over dramatic and somewhat sarcastic. Love me for it. :)

On Sunday we will probably catch up on what we didn't so Saturday. Boring stuff like laundry and grocery shopping. Woohoo! We are an exciting pair!

I have nothing exciting to report except that I am still in the running to win our American Idol pool at work! Go Adam Lambert! I want to win $35!!

It's a rant. A big one.

I have intentionally not blogged in a few days. I have been stressed out over multiple life things and I haven't been very cheerful lately and I have already had my fair share of complaining blogs. I probably shouldn't be doing it now, but I have a few things I need to get off of my chest, and anyone I can actually talk to has already heard it a million times! So, in no particular order:

1. I hate you At the Beach. Tanning lotion does nothing for you, stop harassing me about it EVERYDAY. It also does not reverse the UV damage done to your DNA. Seriously, they have a poster that lists that as one of the reasons to use it. There has to be something illegal about that.

2. Mom, I don't like that Mary feels that she has to throw me a wedding shower just because none of your friends are throwing me one. And, why aren't they?! If one of your friends refers to herself as my "aunt", then she should throw me a freaking shower. (sorry if I sound like a brat, I just think it's weird)

3. Some wedding-related people who will remain anonymous, please do not complain about spending money to come to my wedding or any of the events surrounding the wedding. It makes me feel awkward. What do you want me to do, send you a reimbursement check? If you don't want to be in/at the wedding, then just say so because I'm tired of it. You have all had 16 months to save up for anything that you might be attending. I'm sorry that you did not think to save a little each month. Please do not discuss money in relation to my wedding with me because I can tell you how much it is costing and then you wouldn't complain anymore.

4. I hate you Envelopperinc. All I wanted to do was exchange some freaking paper and you are trying to single handedly ruin my life. No, I will not accept a credit of $70 for my $300+ purchase and pay an additional $70 for the paper I need. You have not heard the last of me.

5. If you are throwing us a couples shower, we are so grateful. But, when you call my fiance at 9pm on a Sunday when he literally just got off of a plane, and he tells you that, please do not be rude the next day and say "so now you'll talk to me". It makes me not like you. Especially when you continued to have an entire conversation with him after he told you he just got home. And then please do not be rude AGAIN when we tell you that we do not want to have our shower on a Friday night because that Sunday is Easter. The shower is going to be on SATURDAY! That is not Sunday. And people who work cannot just up and drive to Lawton for a Friday night wedding shower. I'm sorry we are putting you out. You offered to do this for us.

6. Oklahoma Tax Commission, thank you for making my Tuesday worse when I didn't think it was possible. No I will not pay you $300 for my 2005 tax return. You, Carl the Auditor, will be very sad that you drew my return when I call you later this week. Sometimes it does pay to work in the tax field.

I am going to stop. That is the majority of my frustrations at the moment. That, and the fact that my left jaw is really painful and I can't close that side of my mouth. Mary's mom said it's probably stress. Huh, maybe...

Hooray Friday!

Even though this week had gone by quickly, I am very happy that it's Friday. Everyone loves Fridays. I think that it might be my favorite day of the week, even though you still have to go to work. Because it holds so much promise for a great weekend! On Friday, you are just so happy that you have the weekend ahead of you. Don't get me wrong, Saturdays are great, but usually you're just thinking about how the next day is Sunday which basically doesn't even count as a weekend day because you just have to go to work the next day. So, pretty much, Friday night and Saturday morning are really the only things that count as "weekend". :)

I am feeling especially tired this morning. Probably because of the bottle of wine Mary and I drank last night. I am a wiener when it comes to drinking these days. I mean, we split a bottle of wine for crying out loud! Which means I had approximately 2.5 glasses. And I had a tiny headache this morning. That is ridiculous! And sort of embarrassing. Please do not judge. I guess I'll look on the bright side, at least I'm a cheap drunk now :)

While I do really miss the days of living with Mary, I think that it's probably better that we don't live together. I would want to hang out and stay up late all the time and probably drink all the time too. I do not believe that would be good for my career.

Lee read one of my entries the other day and he was really funny. He read one where I said that he was going to be out of town. He was like "You really shouldn't put that kind of stuff on here because anyone can read that and what if someone broke into the house" hahaha! He is so funny. He worries about stuff like that all the time. So, just for the record, if you are planning on breaking into my house, you should think twice. In case you haven't noticed from my blog, I have a temper and get angry easily. I can either bitch you out so much that you just leave willingly or I will beat you. And I can beat people who are much larger than me. Ask my brother.

Speaking of beating people. I'm not trying to start a debate here or anything, but they released the incident report on the Chris Brown/Rhianna situation. O.M.G. It it scary. I would just like to preface with the fact that I absolutely do NOT condone domestic violence in any way, shape, or form. I think anyone who beats their significant other should be locked away. But, when they first came out with the story, I 1) at first didn't believe it, I mean, little squeaky clean Chris Brown?, then 2) figured oh, he just hit her once (NOT that that is okay at ALL, but that's what I thought). But, NO, he like beat the shit out of her. He punched her in the eye, causing her mouth to fill with blood, bit her ear and 2 of her fingers, and hit her repeatedly. After she called someone to call the police, he told her that she had made a huge mistake and now he was going to have to kill her and beat her more. WTF is wrong with him? And they are reportedly back together? NO. N.O. No way. Her family needs to drag her kicking and screaming away from him and he needs to go to jail and lose his career forever. And he probably will. It's not like he lied or he cheated on her or something like that. He told her he was going to kill her. I do not understand and I think it's so sad for her.

I don't want to end on that depressing note so I would like to tell a story about yesterday. It was a B-E-A-Utiful day! So sunny and warm. And apparently windy. I decided to take advantage of the lovely weather and wear a dress! I love dresses! I realized that it was windy on my way in to work and I was sad because it was a struggle to hold my dress down. Then I decided to go out for lunch since it was lovely. I was standing at an intersection, waiting for the crosswalk to turn. There was a line of about 4 construction trucks stopped at the light. Of course, they were packed full of men. So, I am standing there and a huge gust of wind comes and my dress completely blew up! I mean, there might as well have been a fan under me because there was no way to control it. It was totally embarrassing. All of those men saw and I saw them seeing it. I was wearing these little short things under the dress because I feel weird at work if I don't. But still, they are really short and really tight and everyone saw! Haha, I can laugh about it now but it was not the highlight of my day.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

A Letter

Dear Co-Worker,

While in a meeting, please do not interrupt 192837304 times to say, in a different way, the same thing the person in charge of the meeting just said. Just to make everyone think that you are smart. We do not.

Sincerely,
Me

Meaningless

Today has been creeping by slowly and I don't like it. I am thinking about going to Starbucks to get out of the office for a minute.

I took Lee to the airport this morning :( The girls are going to be very confused tonight. None of us like it when he's gone. I'm sure that they will bark at every noise they hear tonight thinking it's him. I am excited to hang out lots with Mary though. And to go to Sonoma for her birthday tomorrow!

Last night, Lee and I were talking about things that we will never take for granted after living in Midtown. Here are a few for your reading pleasure:
- indoor laundry
- closet space
- a 2-car garage
- new, or relatively new, plumbing
- a privacy fence
- neighbors that do not hot glue miniature cars to the sides of their truck bed

And a couple of things that we will surely miss:
- our huge yard
- original wood floors, I love old wood floors
- Bob, our wonderful 85+ year old neighbor who places our weekend paper on our doorstep and puts our trash cans back after the trashmen come, every single time :)

Things Isabelle and Zoe will miss:
- birds
- tons of squirrels running all over the yard
- the bunny family that lives in our neighborhood
- Big Money, our neighbor's 150 lb bull mastiff that lets them lick his nose but hates me and Lee

Things Isabelle and Zoe won't miss:
- Chloe, the wiener dog behind us that barks incessantly at them

My parents are on Facebook. Both of them. Yesterday my dad's "status" said "Dean Denton is outta here....see you on the flip side." He is 63 years old.

Tough Stuff

I just found out that a friend of a friend got laid off from his job today. I happened to go to college with him, and although I don't personally know him, I know that he and his wife are great people. I feel so bad for them. Until now, the reality of the layoffs that have been happening haven't really hit home. It is so scary that any one of us could go into work one day and leave jobless. I am the newest person at my job, so I know that if they needed to let anyone go, it would be me. Lee just told me that his company is selling one of their pipes (they are an O&G company). They told him that so far no one will be affected, but you really never know. Ugh, I don't like this grown up stuff.

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

P.S. I had another nightmare last night!

This week I began parking in a different place for work. I now park in an uncovered lot one block away from the office while I used to park in a covered garage about 25 steps away. I actually like the new place better, and, because you asked, I will tell you why.

1. The spots in the lot are much larger than the ones in the garage, thus, no more door dings.
2. The sun shines on my car in the lot, thus I get into a warm car even when it's cold.
3. It is WAY cheaper than the garage. Way cheaper.
4. I no longer have to see the parking attendant that verbally assaulted me in the garage.

Really, my only complaint is that my walk to work now requires me to huff and puff up a rather steep hill that is 1/2 a block long. Seriously, when I say huff and puff, I mean it.

Another work-related thought. I typically work 7:30-4:30 now. I love it! And if I get here earlier, I leave earlier. But my eating schedule is thrown off because I eat breakfast earlier, so I get hungry for lunch earlier, and I have a snack earlier, and basically I want dinner at like 4!

So I would like to tell another wedding drama story. If you are tired of my ranting, you can skip this, my feelings won't be hurt :)

Ooooookay. So. We are reserving rooms at 2 hotels. Because one is the Cherokee Casino, and some of the older folk will not want to stay there. And it's kinda expensive in my opinion. It was going to work out perfectly because there was a Holiday Inn Express that was also really close. Well, I have been trying to reserve a block of rooms since January. That was 2 months ago in case you weren't aware. Basically, you have to call the group sales dept in charge of all of the hotels, then they send something to the specific hotel we want, then that hotel is supposed to email me with a room quote and I accept it and we're done. Oh, if only it were that simple. The specific hotel I needed would never get back to me. I have called the group sales department probably 4 times. They were very nice, and it wasn't their fault. Each time, they tried to reach the general manager of the hotel and never could because she was "in meetings". Finally, today, the group sales lady left an urgent message for the manager to call me on my cell phone, which she just did. She was incredibly rude when I answered. She didn't understand what the message was all about. So I calmly and politely (seriously) explained to her the whole story I just told. Her response was: "So what are you needing from me" Huh? TO RESERVE A BLOCK OF ROOMS!!! Dude. She acted totally put off and like she didn't want to help me at all. So I told her nevermind, I would just go with another hotel. She acted shocked! And then she was nice and couldn't possibly understand why I would say that. And then she asked if the people at the group sales were rude, and I said no, that she was. Anywho, long story (not so) short, I am now switching hotels. And there isn't anything that's as close so I feel sort of bad, but what can you do. Crap, now I have to change the map for the invites.

And, to end on a positive, I kind of like messing with the invites so I don't really care that I have to change the map :)

Good Weekend!

I can't believe it's March! Yay!

We had a pretty good weekend. Met with the builder on Saturday and I think that we found a floor plan that we love, finally :) Saturday night we celebrated a friend's birthday at the casino. It was my first gambling experience, and I haven't been missing anything. I don't really care for it. And it was really smoky in there. And most of the people there were....interesting. And on Sunday we didn't really do much. Went to the grocery store and relaxed. I'm ready for it to be Friday again!

This is going to be a strange week, since Lee is going out of town, and then I'll be out of town on Saturday. Plus, I think that things are going to start picking up at work. We're starting our return season. Please hold back your jealousy. I am actually excited(ish) to start on returns, since that's what I'm used to always doing.

Saturday is daylight savings time. Although I don't like losing an hour, I love the sunshine and weather that it brings with it! It's supposed to get up to 80 this week!

And now, time for....

Monday: Pan Fried Chicken with Gravy
Tuesday: Leftovers
Wednesday: Dinner out for Mary's birthday!
Thursday: Wild Rice Chicken Supreme
Friday: One-Pot Spaghetti
Saturday: In OKC for Mary's birthday
Sunday: Gumbo Burgers
